JANUARY 25 POSSESSING THE GATES

 In Genesis 22:17, God promised Abraham, "...thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies..."  In Old Testament times, cities had walls built around them for protection and the gate was the entrance into the city.  To "possess the gate of an enemy" meant that you had conquered them.

God is raising up believers who will embrace this promise.  Like Abraham, they will forsake all for the sake of God’s call.  They will be mighty warriors who will possess the gates of the enemy.  The men and women God is raising up in this end-time are not weak, anemic believers.  They are not people who must be nursed along and coddled spiritually.  They are spiritual warriors going forth to take kingdoms and nations for God.  They are embracing and living out the promises of the Abrahamic covenant.

This is what God wants to do through you, your life, and your ministry.  Fathers and mothers, claim this for your children.  Pastors, claim this for your church members.  Ministers, claim this for your followers.  Teachers, declare this over your students: Your seed will multiply, possess the gates of the enemy, and bless the nations of the earth.

God sealed the provisions of this divine covenant by His own oath, saying,  "By Myself have I sworn..." (Genesis 22:16).  In referring to God’s covenant promises, the Apostle Paul declared: 

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast... (Hebrews 6:13-16)

There is no one greater than God, so He swore by Himself that this covenant would be fulfilled.  He also sealed these promises with an oath.   You can trust God’s promises because they are sealed by His sacred oath.  He swears by them, and it is absolutely impossible for God to lie.  Receive these promises as they are--the truth!
