JANUARY 19 YOUR SHIELD

The journey to your destiny will not be an easy trip. That is why you need protection.  One of the promises God gave Abraham in Genesis 15:1-21 was, "I am thy shield.”  This is one of the most powerful declarations of the covenant:  God is your shield!

-This shield is your salvation: “Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation...(Psalm 18:35).

-This shield lifts you up from despondency and discouragement:  “But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head” (Psalms 3:3).

-This shield surrounds you with favor: “For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield” (Psalms 5:12).

-This shield is your strength and joy: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him” (Psalms 28:7).

-This shield is your help in every situation: “Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield”  (Psalm 33:20).

-This shield provides grace, glory, and all good things: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).

-This shield of truth is your protection: “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee” (Psalm 91:4-7).

-This shield of faith enables you to stop the enemy in his tracks: “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16).

This one promise, “I am thy shield,” encompasses every need in your life.  It lifts you from the despondency of painful experiences.  It protects you from evil and enables you to stop the enemy in his tracks.

God is your shield. No attack of the enemy against you will be successful as long as you are obedient to His Word.  You will reach your destiny intact!
